Job Summary
UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks an experienced and organized Financial Aid Advisor in the Office of Student Financial Aid. The hybrid role offers on-campus work in Dallas along with remote days for flexibility. The advisor will support over 2000 graduate/professional students across various schools by providing counseling on financial aid options, assisting with FAFSA and related documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel students and families on financial aid eligibility and procedures.
- Guide students through the FAFSA process and documentation requirements.
- Manage communications via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Maintain compliance with Department of Education regulations and Title IV policies.
- Coordinate document intake, scheduling, and administrative support.
- Collaborate with academic, financial aid staff, and external partners.
- Proactively contact students about financial aid status and funding options.
- Assist with office operational functions including supply inventory and scheduling support.

Required Experience & Education
- Associate's Degree with 1 year of financial aid experience OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 3 years relevant experience.
- PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong communication, analytical, and customer service skills are essential. The advisor must be detail-oriented, capable of troubleshooting independently, and maintain a positive, respectful demeanor. Previous experience in higher education financial aid settings, familiarity with Title IV regulations, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required.
