About the role
General Description
Responsible for supporting new system initiative efforts. Define systems capabilities (custom or purchased) to enable the business to grow. Perform project management activities for the approved systems initiative efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Research problems and plan solutions.
- Recommend software and system changes.
- Coordinate development to meet business requirements.
- Responsible for supporting data and reporting business needs in a structured environment using Microsoft’s BI stack tools (SQL Server Reporting Services / SSRS, SQL Server Integration Services / SSIS, SQL Server Analysis Services / SSAS).
- Act as liaison between business users and the IT team.
- Develop business cases and financial models for systems enhancements and net new systems.
- Interact with customers and transform user requests into business requirements and technical specifications.
- Develop test plans and test cases.
- Manage system testing and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Define “as is” and “to be” workflows and review with line of business leaders.
- Performs comparative evaluation of internal duplicative systems and system alternatives.
- Present recommendations and findings to senior management.
- Subject matter expert (SME) in insurance and/or sales workflows and applications.
- Work with business leaders and IT to implement projects and systems changes.
- Manage system conversion activities including data mapping, data analysis, system configuration.
- Define and maintain systems analysis standards, deliverables, and processes.
- Develop and maintain project plans, issues logs and tasks in a system of record.
- Review project progress with project team including senior management.
- Manage accountability of tasks for project members.
- Write periodic project status reports for management.
- Interface with vendors to ensure vendor compliance to contractual agreements.

- Operate in accordance with USI Policies for the Information Security Program (PISP) and USI Standards for the Information Security Program (SISP).
- Keep up to date with security updates and improvements. Implement improvements as appropriate.
- Protect systems against unauthorized access by appropriately defining access.
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security and technical controls.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- 5-7 years of IT and/or systems experience.
- Expert level understanding of SQL Server Integration, Analysis and Reporting Services (SSIS, SSAS and SSRS).
- 5+ years of SQL Server Integration Services experience.
- 3+ years of database design and data modeling.
- 3+ years of SQL Server Analysis Services experience.
- 2+ years of SQL Server Reporting Services experience.
- Experience with insurance or sales applications and workflows a plus.
- Team orientation and hands-on approach.
- Experience with Agile or software development methodology a plus.
- Able to manage multiple and rapidly changing, high visibility priorities and projects.
