About the role
About the Role
This is a greenfield role for an AI-first marketer who wants to build something, not inherit it. You'll own the PLG funnel from activation through expansion — diagnosing where qualified users drop off, designing the infrastructure to fix it, and iterating fast alongside a tight-knit growth squad. Demo-to-pipeline conversion is strong. What we're building now is the lifecycle and demand generation engine that predictably grows PQL volume and turns more of those leads into paying, expanding customers. You'll work directly with a VP of Marketing who will co-architect strategy with you, a GTM Engineer who is your day-to-day technical partner, and a broader growth squad — PM, GTM Eng, and others — running experiments across the funnel.
If you've been waiting for a role where you can build the lifecycle motion from scratch, instrument it yourself, and have your fingerprints on the growth strategy of a category-leading product, this is it.
What You'll Do
- Build the lifecycle engine from the ground up — design and launch activation sequences, behavioral triggers, in-app messaging strategy, and retention and expansion plays that move signups to activated users and activated users to advocates
- Drive PQL volume and conversion — identify where qualified users are dropping off, develop hypotheses, and run the experiments and programs that move the conversion number — then clearly explain why it moved
- Run growth experiments with the squad — partner with the PM and GTM Engineer to design, execute, and learn from funnel experiments; you bring the hypotheses and customer intuition, the GTM Engineer handles instrumentation and automation
- Own the in-product experience alongside CS — partner closely with the Customer Success team on in-product flows and develop genuine, hands-on expertise in Userflow's own product; understanding what we build is inseparable from knowing how to grow it
- Architect an AI-native marketing stack — help design and implement the future-state marketing technology infrastructure, with a focus on AI tools for behavioral segmentation, predictive modeling, and personalization at scale
- Contribute to the top-of-funnel acquisition mix — as the role matures, bring your funnel intelligence into shaping how Userflow grows demand at the top
What Success Looks Like
In your first 90 days:
- You've mapped the funnel, identified the highest-leverage drop-off points, and have your first lifecycle sequences live and instrumented.
At six months:
- PQL-to-paid conversion is measurably improving — you can point to the experiments, explain the learning, and show what's running next
- Activation, conversion, and retention sequences are live, instrumented, and iterated on
- You're a consistent voice in growth squad conversations, not waiting to be told what to test
- Funnel insights you've surfaced are actively shaping conversations with Product, CS, and leadership
How we'll measure it:
- PQL-to-paid conversion rate and volume
- Trial activation rate and time-to-value
- Retention rate tied to lifecycle program participation
- Expansion MRR influenced by lifecycle touchpoints
- Experiment velocity and documented learnings
- Adoption and utilization of AI-native tools and strategies
What You'll Bring
Required:
- 5+ years of experience spanning lifecycle marketing, growth, and demand generation — ideally at a PLG SaaS company; breadth across all three matters more than depth in just one
- AI-native by default — you don't dabble in AI tools, you rely on them systematically: to diagnose funnel drop-offs, generate sharp hypotheses, automate and personalize messaging, and dramatically increase your execution speed and leverage
- Proven lifecycle builder — you've designed and launched activation sequences, behavioral trigger programs, and retention plays, and you can speak to what worked, what didn't, and why
- Strong funnel intuition — you can look at a conversion funnel cold and form credible hypotheses about where it's breaking and what to test first
- High autonomy, low overhead — you can operate effectively without a team beneath you, move fast in an environment with minimal process, and create structure where it doesn't yet exist
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience with in-app messaging or product adoption platforms (bonus points if you've used Userflow or a direct competitor)
- Familiarity with PLG instrumentation concepts — product analytics, event tracking, attribution — even if the GTM Engineer is your technical execution partner
- Experience building or evaluating AI-powered martech tools for segmentation, personalization, or predictive modeling
Why Userflow
- Build the thing, don't just run it — this is a rare chance to design and own a lifecycle and growth motion from zero at a company with real traction and a strong product
- Work with a team that ships — your day-to-day partner is a GTM Engineer, not a backlog; you'll move at the speed ideas deserve
- The product is the domain — you'll become a genuine expert in product adoption, which means your work makes you better at your work
- Category leadership at an early stage — Userflow is the leading solution in its space, and this role is central to how it stays that way
- Real strategic influence — you'll be a voice, not just an executor; the insights you surface will reach Product, CS, and leadership
Userflow is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and are committed to building a team as diverse as the customers we serve.
