Job Description
Registered Nurse - Acute Care
Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- English Language Proficiency: Proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing (ACEN or CCNE accredited).
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a US State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: May be appointed temporarily while actively pursuing licensure.
Grade Determinations:
The grade and level are determined by scope of education and experience, including dimensions of Practice, Veteran/Patient Driven Care, Leadership, Professional Development, and Evidence-Based Practice/Research.
- Nurse I - Level I: ADN or Diploma in Nursing.
- Nurse I - Level II: ADN or Diploma in Nursing + 1 year specialized experience, OR BSN.
- Nurse I - Level III: ADN or Diploma in Nursing + 2 years professional experience, OR BSN + 1 year professional experience, OR MSN.
- Nurse II: BSN + 2 years experience, OR MSN + 1 year experience, OR Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field with BSN.
- Nurse III: MSN + 2 years experience, OR Master's in related field with BSN + 2 years experience, OR Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field with BSN + 1 year experience.
Note: Foreign education programs/degrees are not creditable as related degrees.

Duties
- Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process and direct patient care.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- Coordinates care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction.
- Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to influence care outcomes.
- Demonstrates leadership and creative approaches to managing complex client care.
- Provides competent, evidence-based care and oversight of ancillary staff.
- Assists in directing nursing education, orientation, and competencies.
- Promotes quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
- Evaluates practice, provides constructive feedback, and fosters a safe, supportive environment.
- Contributes nursing perspective to interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing for safe, quality nursing care.
- Questions clinical practices for evidence-based care.
- Participates in sustaining an evidence-based-practice culture.
- Other duties as assigned.
