Overview: Billing Specialist at US Anesthesia Partners
As a Billing Specialist at US Anesthesia Partners, you will leverage your expertise in insurance regulations, health insurance contracts, medical coding, and bookkeeping to manage a variety of crucial revenue cycle support activities. This includes tasks such as accurate medical coding, insurance verification, maintaining precision within the practice management system, preparing deposits, processing payments, submitting clean claims, and diligent follow-up on accounts.
Please note: US Anesthesia Partners does not currently hire candidates residing in California, Hawaii, or Alaska for remote positions.
The estimated base pay for this remote role ranges from $18.17 to $29.04 hourly. The final compensation package will be determined by the selected candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a quarterly bonus, which is contingent upon company and individual performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the practice management system by accurately entering data, verifying and updating insurance, and claims information; handle carrier correspondence, manage EOBs, and key payments.
- Prepare, review, submit, and diligently follow up on clean claims with various insurance companies and individuals.
- Collect, post and efficiently manage patient account payments.
- Investigate rejected claims to understand denial reasons and correct claims for resubmission.
- Facilitate timely invoice payments by sending patient invoices, billing reminders, and making collection calls for outstanding balances as directed.
- Review and provide weekly and monthly RCM reports, including productivity and financial data, and complete necessary action steps.
- Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding patient information access and sharing.
- Maintain patient and business confidentiality at all times.
- Provide prompt and professional customer service, resolve patient billing discrepancies, and answer questions from patients, facility staff, and third-party vendors.
- Support additional coding, billing, and practice management projects as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support the revenue cycle operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school graduate or equivalent educational background.
- Minimum of one year of billing experience is preferred.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of revenue cycle processes, medical insurance, and general accounting principles.
- Demonstrated high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, meet deadlines simultaneously, identify and resolve exceptions, and interpret complex data; proficient in data entry.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear and professional interactions.
- Proficient computer skills, including strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
