Overview
The VP Operations, Community and Ambulatory Services role at UPMC is a newly created position supporting the evolution of a developing division. The role is focused on providing operational leadership, guiding special access projects, and engaging external partners to shape the division's structure and growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead operations across community and ambulatory service facilities.
- Partner with finance, HR, data analytics, legal, marketing, and real estate leaders.
- Support business development and growth in services beyond the hospital.
- Serve as liaison to insurance services and UPMC Enterprises.
- Ensure operations comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Streamline management structures and decision-making processes.
- Drive innovative care models and explore new physician partnership strategies.
- Assist in strategic planning and management alongside the President and COO.
- Maintain current knowledge of various healthcare organization models.
- Perform duties per system-wide competencies and other assigned tasks.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field. Required experience ranges from 5 to 10 years with at least 5 years in a management role. Experience in healthcare settings, accounting systems, third-party billing, grant administration, and collaboration with senior leadership is essential. Prior experience in academic medical or specialty administration and managing ambulatory surgical centers is preferred.
