Department of Microbes, Infection and Microbiomes, School of Infection, Inflammation and Immunology, College of Medicine and Health at the University of Birmingham.
Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK
Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to November 2028. Salary: Grade 7 with a maximum of £42,254. Closing date: 22nd September 2025.
Background
Join a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Rossiter. Collaborate with clinicians, bacteriologists, structural biologists, and advanced microscopy specialists to explore bacterial invasion in gastric tissues and its implications in pre-cancer conditions.
Role Summary
Work within relevant research grants. Operate in a specialised area and liaise with clinical teams to handle patient samples. Analyse data, contribute to funding bids, and disseminate findings through publications and seminars.
Main Duties
- Develop research objectives and proposals.
- Contribute to writing funding bids.
- Analyse and interpret experimental data.
- Supervise and guide students and PhD candidates.
- Manage research administration and coordinate with clinical teams.
Person Specification
Requirements include a relevant higher degree, tissue culture and organoid culture experience, expertise in fluorescent microscopy (ImageJ), familiarity with bacterial culture/infection models, and advanced spatial biology analysis. Communication and management of research projects is essential.
