Job Description

The Opportunity: Teaching Support Administration Officer - UNSW

The Faculty of Engineering at UNSW is seeking two proactive Teaching Support Administration Officers. This position plays a key role within Engineering, assisting with the implementation and evaluation of learning, teaching, and assessment programs for student coursework. The role involves close collaboration with Team Leaders, Academic Program Authorities, and Course Convenors to support the design and development of both undergraduate and postgraduate programs and courses.

One role reports to the TSA Team Leader within the Faculty of Engineering, while the other reports to the School Manager for the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, with a dotted line to the TSA Team Leaders.

Salary & Benefits

This is a continuing, full-time (35 hours per week) position based in Kensington – Sydney, Australia. The successful candidate is required to be on campus a minimum of 3 days per week.

  • Level 5: $88,717 to $100,386 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Level 6: $103,866 to $110,801 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills And Experience

Level 5 Requirements:
  • A relevant degree and relevant administrative or customer service experience in a tertiary organisation, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, conduct complex tasks and projects, and meet competing deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated high-level experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office. Experience using a student management system would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
Level 6 Requirements (in addition to Level 5):
  • Significant relevant experience in a similar role in a tertiary organisation.
  • Experience providing a broad range of teaching administration support and advice to Academic staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply, interpret, advise on, and contribute to the development of policies, systems, manuals, rules, procedures, and guidelines.
