Job Description

Research Associate in Wireless Communications

The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW is seeking a Research Associate to join a dynamic team at the forefront of wireless communications research. This role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to innovative research in channel coding and signal processing, supporting the delivery of high-quality outcomes on funded projects.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct innovative research in channel coding and signal processing for wireless communications.
  • Collaborate with leading academics and researchers on emerging communication technologies.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and conference presentations.
  • Assist in the supervision of research students.
  • Engage with industry partners to enhance research impact.
  • Work under the guidance of Professor Jinhong Yuan.

Skills and Experience Required

  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proactive knowledge of wireless communications, channel coding, and signal processing.
  • Ability to conduct high-quality, independent research with limited supervision.
  • Experience in delay–Doppler domain modulation, channel coding, signal processing (including estimation and detection), and/or machine learning for wireless communications.
  • Proven publication and conference presentation record.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and professional relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values.
  • Understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
