About The Project Office
Since 1995, UNOPS has maintained an active presence in Afghanistan, supporting humanitarian response and development efforts across multiple sectors. The Afghanistan Country Office has shifted its focus to life-saving initiatives and basic human needs, including cash-for-work programmes, emergency supply procurement, and inter-agency coordination and accountability support.
Role Purpose
The Partnerships Development Advisor will provide expert advice on project design, stakeholder engagement and alignment with donor priorities while working remotely under the supervision of the Head of Programmes.
Functions / Key Results Expected
- Project Development Support: Advise on comprehensive project documents and represent UNOPS during donor meetings.
- Value Chain Resilience: Provide technical guidance for establishing value chain linkages, especially in manufacturing and agribusiness sectors.
- Incubation Services: Assess business support initiatives, recommend accelerator programs, and support investment de-risking measures.
- Private Sector Advisory: Engage stakeholders for insights and guide private sector advisory strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communications and consultations between UNOPS Afghanistan, donors, and other stakeholders.
Education Requirements
Required: Master's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or related field with 7+ years of experience OR Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience. Desired certifications in private sector development or investment promotion.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 7 years of experience in private sector development, investment promotion, policy advisory in developing countries, including at least 3 years in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. Proven track record in project design, stakeholder engagement and value chain analysis, particularly in manufacturing and agribusiness sectors. Preferred experience with International Financial Institutions and capacity building initiatives.
