Job Description
About the Role: Catalog Acquisition Intern
We’re seeking a sharp, curious, and ambitious individual eager to enter the business side of the music industry. As a Catalog Acquisition Intern, your primary objective is straightforward yet engaging: identify valuable music catalogs suitable for acquisition. This can encompass a diverse range of assets, including independent artists with consistent streaming revenue, producers holding publishing catalogs, small record labels, musical estates, or even more extensive portfolios. Regardless of size, if a catalog is interesting and valuable, we want to explore it.
This internship offers a genuine opportunity for impact. If you successfully source a catalog that culminates in a closed deal, you will earn a commission. You will be actively involved in the entire process, from initial discovery through to serious discussions and deal progression.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
- Researching and identifying artists, songwriters, producers, and rights holders who may be interested in selling their music catalogs.
- Initiating outreach and establishing initial conversations with potential sellers.
- Developing and maintaining a robust pipeline of potential acquisition opportunities.
- Performing fundamental due diligence, including analyzing streaming numbers, reviewing royalty history, and understanding publishing splits.
- Presenting strong leads to the core acquisitions team and remaining engaged as deals advance towards completion.
This is a highly active, hands-on internship; you will be proactively hunting for opportunities rather than passively observing.
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine and deep interest in the inner workings of the music business.
- Comfortable with proactive outreach and initiating new conversations.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Possess strong research instincts and analytical skills.
- Resilient and not deterred by potential rejections.
