The Opportunity
Striking Distance Studios (SDS) & Unknown Worlds (UW) IT Operations team deliver centralized studio-level IT services for both SDS and UW. The Senior IT Systems Engineer works at the intersection of operations and projects, handling incident response, ticketing, and leading key projects to standardize and secure UW within Krafton’s environment. The role supports approximately 180 users across multiple time zones and collaborates closely with Development and QA teams while ensuring critical launch-window reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and operate servers, storage, and network infrastructure for on-prem and cloud (AWS/Azure) environments.
- Lead device management and MDM rollouts for mixed Windows, macOS, and Linux fleets.
- Configure and maintain Palo Alto and Meraki security including VLAN design, firewall rules, and VPNs.
- Manage identity and access with Active Directory, Okta/OneLogin, SSO, and group policy.
- Act as primary escalation for incidents and run postmortems and remediation.
- Implement system hardening, vulnerability assessments, and compliance controls.
- Automate operations tasks using PowerShell/Python and maintain runbooks.
- Support game development toolchain including Perforce and Unreal Engine workflows.
- Drive change management, documentation, and internal training to improve efficiency.
Qualifications
Minimum 6 years of IT systems engineering and operations (8+ years preferred). Hands-on administration with Windows, Linux, macOS; deep experience with Palo Alto firewalls; strong Active Directory and identity management skills; proven AWS and/or Azure experience; virtualization and scripting using PowerShell/Python; MDM expertise; and solid networking fundamentals. Experience with ITSM/ITIL processes and incident/change management is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in AWS, Azure, CompTIA, Jamf, and Okta are preferred. Prior experience with studio M&A integrations, multi-studio shared services, or large device refresh programs is advantageous. Familiarity with endpoint security tools and automation to reduce manual efforts is a plus. Ability to support remote and international users is essential.
Additional Information
This is a hybrid role based out of San Ramon, CA. The expected salary range in California is $126,000-$147,000, depending on experience and skills.
