Role Summary
The Informatics Pharmacist is responsible for analysis, design, testing, documentation, implementation, support, and auditing of comprehensive pharmacy information systems. This role maintains automation systems, databases, interfacing, and billing systems while providing data for informed operational decisions.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, analyze, and implement pharmacy system functionalities.
- Support electronic medical records and pharmacy applications.
- Prepare technical specifications based on user and IT requirements.
- Recommend solutions and lead quality improvement projects.
- Provide superior customer service and effective training.
- Develop queries and reports for patient safety and financial improvements.
- Perform essential clinical pharmacist functions and compliance duties.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Expertise in pharmacy and medication use process.
- Strong communication and technical translation skills.
- Experience with system lifecycle from design to support.
- Familiarity with healthcare IT, data warehousing, and BI tools.
- Ability to work under high-pressure environments and prioritize tasks.
Qualifications
Advanced degree (PharmD, MS) or equivalent clinical practice experience, with valid licensure in Utah. Training and mentoring experience for students, interns, or new staff is required.
Preferred Qualifications
PGY1 Residency training, PGY2 in Pharmacy Informatics, or a Master's in Healthcare Informatics. Experience with Epic Willow systems or related technologies is a plus.
Working Conditions
This role involves light physical work, primarily sitting, with occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
