Your Opportunity as a Communications & Multimedia Specialist

Reporting to the Director, Office of the Dean and under the functional supervision of the Lead, Communications and Marketing Officer, the Communications & Multimedia Specialist is a creative, proactive professional skilled in storytelling through graphic design, videography, photography, and writing. This role is crucial for producing compelling communication, promotional, and outreach content across various digital channels to engage prospective students, alumni, partners, and the public. You will gather newsworthy content, coordinate image and copy preparation, and write/edit targeted communications to support strategic initiatives, with a particular focus on empowering students to share their authentic experiences. Responsibilities also include determining technical requirements for graphic design, formatting print materials, and maintaining website information based on objectives and user feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement digital communication plans across a broad range of marketing and communication channels.
  • Write and edit targeted communications including copy for strategic initiatives and promotional/outreach materials.
  • Gather relevant and newsworthy content for various platforms.
  • Create and produce graphic designs aligning with departmental and divisional objectives.
  • Implement social media campaigns, and establish, maintain, and grow the Faculty’s presence across platforms.
  • Design graphic elements for digital and online media, and manage website content.
  • Conduct photography and videography shoots, and perform post-production editing of audio and visual materials.
  • Assess print and digital materials for consistency in graphic elements and text layout.
  • Ensure all digital communication collateral adheres to brand identity and University style guides.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Content Marketing, or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of experience.
  • Minimum four years of experience in digital content creation and graphic design, with a strong focus on storytelling.
  • Proven experience in implementing and growing social media campaigns across various platforms within a complex organizational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement digital communication strategies across diverse marketing channels.
  • Extensive experience in writing and editing targeted communications, including copy supported by graphics/videos for strategic initiatives and promotional materials.
  • Experience in creating and producing graphic designs that align with organizational objectives.
  • Proficiency in designing graphic elements for digital media and website maintenance.
  • Track record of producing dynamic images, videos, reels, and graphics, including capturing live events, reflecting design excellence.
  • Experience assessing print and digital materials for graphic consistency and layout.
  • Proficiency in ensuring digital collateral adheres to brand identity.
  • Experience with animation and motion graphics.
  • Advanced expertise in multimedia promotional material production using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat), Canva, or similar design software.
  • Extensive experience with major social media platforms: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, or comparable.
  • Experience maintaining, customizing websites, and advising on content/design within WordPress, Drupal, or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated strong visual and design sensibility.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management, ability to work independently, and collaboratively in a team.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, adaptable to different audiences.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a design and/or academic environment.
  • Experience working with marketing programs targeting student populations.
