Design Assurance Quality Engineering Scientist
University of Texas at Austin is seeking a senior design assurance engineer to oversee the implementation and DO-278A certification of mission-essential web applications. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader and guide a team in ensuring that products meet certification standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead safety-critical system design, development, and requirement tracking per DO-278A.
- Perform Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) and define system safety objectives.
- Identify evidence for Design Assurance levels and map to objectives.
- Conduct DA Reviews and support Gap Analysis based on key safety artifacts.
- Develop compliance audits and compile a Design Assurance Compliance Report.
- Support integration and handle various designated tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science, applied science, or engineering.
- At least three years as a technical team leader in safety-critical systems.
- Understanding of DO-178C, DO-278A, and DO-331.
- Experience with quality assurance frameworks and conducting compliance audits.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to make architectural decisions for web applications.
- US Citizenship with eligibility for security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with Agile project management tools like Jira.
- Work experience with GNSS systems and real-time data streams.
- Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
Additional Information
Position Details: Full-time, exempt, with weekly 40 hours, located at PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS. Salary ranges from $104,000 to $150,000+ and is negotiable based on qualifications.
