About the Role
The School seeks to recruit three new Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow positions to undertake ARC-funded research at the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the ground-breaking area of high-speed rail geotechnics. This role will strengthen research in geomechanics and geotechnical engineering, and contribute to the University and Faculty’s research foci in transport and environment.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow will have the opportunity to:

About You
As the successful candidate for the Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow, Civil and Environmental Engineering, you will have demonstrated experience in leading geomechanics research groups as well as a high level of knowledge in geomaterials modelling. Strong computer programming skills, particularly those relevant to DEM and CFD, are essential. You will also have:
- A PhD degree in a relevant science or engineering in geomechanics
- Good publication record in international journals
- Knowledge of recent advances in high-speed rail geotechnics
- Knowledge of emerging research trends in geotechnical engineering and computational mechanics
- Analytical and numerical skills to interpret large research data sets related to geotechnical engineering
- Experience and track record in research with demonstrated outcomes including research publications
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $106,829 - $134,294 pa (Level A.3- Level B.4)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis between 1 to 5 years, up to 31 December 2030. Duration of appointment will be negotiated with successful candidates.
