About the Role

The Lead Technical Designer Information Technology at University of Ottawa is responsible for designing and implementing solutions to support the University’s business objectives. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role is involved in all phases of systems analysis, technical design, and implementation of mission critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and guide application design based on business objectives.
  • Plan, estimate, prioritize, and assign work to technical resources.
  • Ensure use of best practices and adherence to design frameworks.
  • Analyze complex business requirements and develop technical design documents.
  • Support operational applications and lead technical projects.

What You Will Bring

  • A University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT with 5 years in application development.
  • Expertise in Drupal and PHP development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and strong scripting skills for automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and Agile methodologies.
  • Bilingualism in French and English.
