About the Position

The Intermediate Learning Specialist, Academic Accommodation at the University of Ottawa will evaluate and implement academic accommodation measures. Reporting to the Manager, Academic Accommodations, the role involves performing functional assessments, developing individualized accommodation plans, and collaborating with professors and multidisciplinary teams in line with university policies and human rights legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform functional assessments based on medical documentation.
  • Develop individualized accommodation plans for students.
  • Assist students in communicating accommodation needs with faculty.
  • Recommendation of compensatory learning strategies.
  • Record keeping and ensuring confidentiality of records.
  • Collaborate with professors to implement academic accommodations.
  • Develop and provide training content on learning strategies.

What You Will Bring

A Master’s degree in education or a related field, at least two years’ experience in academic and cognitive intervention, bilingual skills in French and English, and extensive experience working with students with disabilities. Proficiency with adaptive technologies and various software systems is required. Applicants must be comfortable working under pressure and meeting firm deadlines.
