About the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine

Welcome to the first and largest bilingual medical faculty in Canada, renowned globally for its research impact in biomedical and health sciences.

Position Purpose

The Intermediate Advisor Communications and Marketing will contribute to the growth of programs and services through strategic communications and marketing tools. You will generate web content, conceptualize and implement communications and marketing plans to project a positive image, promote the brand, and increase the sector's visibility, while providing guidance to ensure compliance with established policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communications: Develop and execute annual communications plans, produce content for reports, news bulletins, brochures, speeches, web, social media, and press releases, and coordinate translation efforts. Conduct cost/benefit analyses to support budget planning.
  • Marketing: Design and implement marketing strategies, collaborate with designers and vendors, and ensure compliance with graphic standards while working within budget limits.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop performance indicators, execute consultations and surveys, analyze results, and recommend improvements to optimize marketing and communications products.
  • Trends and Needs Analysis: Initiate market research studies to identify potential new markets and opportunities, and propose solutions aligned with the sector’s strategic plan.
  • Media Relations: Act as the primary contact for media inquiries and facilitate responses while referring to subject matter experts when needed.
  • Client Advice: Provide guidance on communications and promotional materials to ensure visual identity, accessibility, and compliance with policies.
  • Web Content Management: Generate and manage web content to meet business needs, ensuring standards and policies are followed.
  • Events Management: Lead planning and execution of events for recruitment and special occasions under budget constraints.
  • Liaison: Participate in meetings and events to facilitate outreach, engagement, and represent the sector in external recruitment activities.

What You Will Bring

Essential qualifications include a postsecondary degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role. You should have advanced computer skills, expertise in graphic design and web applications, comprehensive knowledge of accessibility guidelines, experience in creating communications plans and event planning, strong project and social media management skills, and excellent bilingual communication abilities in English and French.

Additional Information

This is a temporary 18-month replacement position with a 35-hour work week. The role is based at Roger Guindon Hall on the University of Ottawa campus, with occasional travel for recruitment and evening work. Bilingualism in French and English is required. The position falls under a non-union grade NC7.
