About the Role

The Intermediate Advisor, Communications and Marketing at University of Ottawa will contribute to the development and growth of programs and services within the Marketing and Communications sector of the Faculty of Engineering. The role involves a strategic use of marketing and communications tools to project a positive image, promote the brand, and increase the sector's visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communications: Develop and execute annual communications plans, write and coordinate content for various media (annual reports, news bulletins, brochures, speeches, web content, social media, and press releases), and manage translation tasks.
  • Marketing: Design marketing materials, collaborate with graphic designers and external vendors, and perform cost/benefit analyses to support budget planning.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop performance indicators, monitor activities via consultations and surveys, and analyze results to optimize marketing and communications efforts.
  • Trends and Needs Analysis: Execute market research studies to identify new markets and propose innovative program offerings.
  • Media Relations & Client Advice: Act as first point of contact for media inquiries and provide guidance to employees on creating communication materials that adhere to accessibility and official language standards.
  • Web Content & Events Management: Generate, maintain web content and lead planning and execution of small to mid-sized events to support recruitment and engagement activities.

What You Will Bring

A postsecondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 3 years in a similar role. Proficiencies required include advanced computer skills, familiarity with graphic design and web applications, knowledge of web accessibility guidelines, and strong presentation and event planning experience. Bilingualism in French and English is mandatory.

Additional Details

This is a fixed-term, 24-month position operating in a hybrid environment (three days per week on campus at the Main Campus, Ottawa). Applicants must be willing to occasionally travel for recruitment activities and work outside normal office hours if required.
