Job Overview
Iowa Health Care's Patient Financial Services is seeking a Compliance Coordinator in Research to promote and support policies and procedures for compliant research billing processes for clinical trials and research studies conducted by University of Iowa research investigators.
Position Responsibilities
The Compliance Coordinator will:
- Develop and support program objectives of the Research Billing Compliance program.
- Coordinate submission and analysis of research billing materials.
- Conduct Medicare coverage analyses and develop billing plans for clinical trials.
- Analyze Epic charge accounts to verify compliance with billing requirements.
- Counsel and educate research investigators regarding billing policies and Medicare rules.
- Serve as liaison among research investigators, Sponsored Programs, Human Subjects Office, and Patient Financial Services.
- Perform administrative tasks including email correspondence and file management.
- Maintain an internal billing database and prepare reports.
- Conduct auditing activities of clinical trials for regulatory compliance.
Work Arrangement & Equipment
This role is hybrid with both remote and onsite work. Remote work must be performed at an offsite location within Iowa. Training may be onsite at the HSSB building or via Zoom. Equipment is provided onsite; remote employees must supply monitors, keyboard, mouse, and document internet speed and office setup.
Education & Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 1-3 years of administrative and program experience and proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and data management software are required. Strong communication, analytic, organizational, and multitasking skills are essential.
Desired Qualifications
Additional experience in academic or research settings, familiarity with University of Iowa policies, Patient Financial Services functions, IRB processes, medical terminology, clinical trial budgets, and Medicare regulations is a plus.
