Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time/full-time, fixed term (24 weeks) position as a Research Assistant – AI Models Testing with the School of Computer Science at the University of Galway, Ireland.
This position is funded by the University of Galway’s Millenium Fund and is available from March 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026. The successful candidate will join the ‘Sensors, AI and Robotics’ research group at the School of Computer Science and work within a collaborative project between the School of Computer Science and School of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering).
The project’s goal is to investigate the real-time performance and applicability of modern selfsupervised/Foundation AI models in unseen environments such as those encountered in Search and Rescue (SAR) missions.
Salary Information
The salary for this Research Assistant – AI Models Testing position ranges from €33,791 to €43,872 per annum, subject to project funding limitations. The salary will be pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts. The default starting point for new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale, with potential consideration for a higher point based on equivalent prior experience, up to the maximum of the scale.
