Job Description

Overview

The University of East London is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Child Online Harms Policy Think Tank within the Institute for Connected Communities. This fixed term, part time (0.6FTE) role is based at the Stratford campus and focuses on research addressing child online safety and emerging technological risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support qualitative and quantitative research activities including ethics applications and data analysis.
  • Draft research documentation and develop literature reviews, reports, and policy outputs.
  • Manage participant data securely and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Contribute to safeguarding protocols, risk assessments, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Collaborate closely with Professor Julia Davidson OBE and a multidisciplinary research team.

Technical and Collaborative Environment

The role requires familiarity with mixed-methods research and common software tools such as Nvivo, STATA/SPSS, and Covidence. Due to the sensitive nature of the research, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. Interviews will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.
