About the Role
The Postdoctoral Researcher in Natural Language Processing at the University of Amsterdam is a three-year position funded by a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant. It is located within the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) in Amsterdam and involves cutting-edge research in NLP, machine learning, and generative AI.
Project Overview
This project, part of the ERC-funded CulturAL initiative, focuses on developing methodologies for multilingual NLP and aligning large language models (LLMs) to diverse cultural contexts. The role involves research in few-shot learning, continual learning, modular deep learning, reinforcement learning, and direct preference optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out research as outlined in the project proposal.
- Present and publish findings at leading conferences and journals.
- Collaborate on joint research and participate in academic events.
- Contribute to teaching and supervisory activities at the ILLC.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in AI, machine learning, natural language processing, or computer vision. They should have a strong publication record, excellent programming and mathematical skills, and effective communication abilities. Experience with reinforcement learning from human feedback is a plus.
Employment Details & Benefits
This temporary position offers a full-time contract (38 hours per week) for 36 months, with competitive salary determined by experience along with holiday allowance, year-end bonus, pension plan, and extensive secondary benefits. Relocation support and family benefits are available for those moving to the Netherlands.
