About the Role
This is a Permanent Part Time (30 hours per week) replacement position for a Medical Administrative Assistant at the Schroeder Arthritis Institute, Outpatient Clinics, located at Toronto Western Hospital. The role reports to the Clinic Manager / Hand Surgeon and operates on a Days shift schedule. The salary range is $25.56 to $31.95 per hour.
Department Overview
The Schroeder Arthritis Institute is Canada's largest multidisciplinary arthritis hub, focusing on the medical, surgical, and basic science aspects of Hand, Orthopedics, Osteoporosis, and Rheumatology to achieve global impact in discovery, learning, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide secretarial and clerical services using medical terminology and decision-making skills.
- Perform word processing/typing for assigned personnel.
- Handle reception duties.
- Maintain written and/or electronic calendars and schedules.
- Administer and monitor billing procedures and budgeting records.
- Support small and/or informal meetings/events.
- Maintain and modify confidential medical electronic/paper filing and retrieval systems.
- Provide functional supervision to lower classified clerical positions.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the office.
Qualifications
- Completion of Secondary School or recognized equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary office/medical administration program (certificate level or equivalent).
- Two (2) years of related administrative support experience.
- Required: Experience with EPIC EMR for referrals, scheduling, and clinical operations.
- Asset: Experience with financials and billing.
- Preferred: On-the-job computer/word-processing experience in a Microsoft Office environment.
- Asset: Experience in a health care environment.
- Asset: Fluency in a second language (e.g., French).
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
