Role Overview: Technical Product Manager at Universal Music Group

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) is a key member of Universal Music Group's Global eCommerce Technology team, responsible for shaping, delivering, and evolving high-quality D2C solution experiences across global markets. This role focuses on execution, alignment, and delivery management, ensuring that agreed solutions are implemented on time, meet technical and UX standards, are functional, and align with global requirements. Working within the Global Technology organization, the TPM acts as a key point of coordination between business, product owners, engineering teams, designers, QA, and external vendors. This role requires a solid understanding of front-end technologies, UX best practices, and full-stack concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery Coordination & Execution: Coordinate day-to-day delivery of global eCommerce initiatives across internal engineering teams and third-party vendors. Track progress, dependencies, and risks to ensure milestones and release timelines are met. Recognize and manage risk with clear communication to stakeholders. Identify delivery issues early and work with stakeholders to resolve blockers. Support validation of business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable technical deliverables. Break down requirements into epics, user stories, and tasks as required. Ensure requirements are clearly understood by internal teams and external partners. Define success metrics for testing and feature acceptance. Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
  • Front-end & UX Awareness: Work closely with UX and design teams to ensure implementations follow established design standards and UX best practices. Review delivered functionality to confirm alignment with usability, performance, and responsiveness expectations. Act as a point of reference for front-end and experience-related questions during delivery.
  • Third-Party & Vendor Management: Serve as the primary liaison with third-party development and platform partners. Coordinate scope, timelines, deliverables, and dependencies with external vendors. Ensure vendor work aligns with internal technical standards and quality expectations.
  • Quality, QA & UAT Support: Define acceptance criteria and support QA teams during testing phases. Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders. Validate that delivered solutions meet agreed requirements before release.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Maintain clear communication with business, product owners, engineering, design, QA, and operations teams as needed. Provide concise delivery status updates, risks, and next steps. Support documentation and handover to operations or support teams.
