The Role: Media Assistant
AMS (Audience, Media and Strategy) has revolutionised how Universal delivers for our artists and become a new centre of excellence at Universal Music UK.
The Media team is a creative hub of ‘best in class’ executives representing all areas of promotion. From PR, TV, Podcasts and Radio to social media – and everything that flows in-between - we holistically create bespoke, fully integrated campaigns for our artists.
The Media Assistant will be working in a very creative, vibrant department where no one day is the same. Whilst their focus will be supporting the Senior Director of Media and the Artist Publicity team, AMS sits centrally within the whole Universal roster, and so there are always exciting opportunities to tap into for a music and media enthusiast.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Director of Media with daily duties: e.g diary management, release & promo schedules, note-taking.
- Co-ordinate with the Head of Artist Publicity and Press team on their everyday needs: e.g media coverage, sorting press fees, managing and distributing live ticket requests.
- Leading the monthly AMS Media newsletter: confidence editing assets, footage and curation.
- Administrative tasks across the department such as scheduling, setting up and facilitating meetings online and/or in person, and booking travel, hotels, or entertainment.
- Additional opps across the Media team might range from covering promo to capturing socials and attending regular gigs.
Financial Responsibilities
- Become well versed in the Universal Rate Card.
- Training given for Uniport – our invoicing system to assist Media Coordinators with payments.
- Monthly; collate the financial figures outlining promo expenditure for forecasting.
Candidate Profile
- Passionate about music and popular culture, with a knowledge of the PR and journalistic landscape also preferred.
- Experience in using in house computer systems and packages including Canva, Mailchimp, Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Enthusiastic and tenacious.
- Sociable with great communication skills.
- Professional, proactive and flexible approach to work – ability to prioritise, multi-task & pre-empt problems before they occur.
- Excellent track record of working to strict deadlines & maintaining a high standard of attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
- Ability to deal with situations discreetly & confidentially.
- Team player able to work on own initiative.
- Desire to work in Media.
