About the Data Platform Engineering Lead Role

Unity iAds is seeking a hands-on data infrastructure and platform engineer with leadership skills to evolve a self-service data platform powering petabyte-scale batch and streaming, near-real-time analytics, experimentation, and the feature platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the lakehouse backbone with high-scale Iceberg management.
  • Unify online/offline feature data with Flink for low-latency performance.
  • Build self-serve golden paths and guardrails for fast, safe engineering.
  • Run multi-tenant compute efficiently on EMR on EKS with cost optimizations.
  • Enable cross-cloud interoperability with BigQuery and BigLake/Iceberg.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading a senior Data Platform team by setting objectives and unblocking execution.
  • Owning SLOs, on-call duties, incident response, and postmortems.
  • Designing and operating EMR on EKS capacity profiles and autoscaling policies.
  • Tuning Trino, Spark/Structured Streaming, and Druid for high performance.
  • Extending Apache Flink patterns and enhancing platform observability.
  • Collaborating with product, analytics, and DS/ML engineers on roadmap initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years leadership experience with senior engineers in large-scale data platforms.
  • 5+ years in Data Infrastructure/DataOps with AWS cloud-native expertise.
  • Proficiency in Apache Iceberg, columnar formats, and SQL performance tuning.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills in Trino/Presto, Apache Spark, Druid, and Flink.
  • Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Python/Java, and Kafka concepts.

You Might Also Have

  • Experience in building feature platforms and scaling Airflow or Argo.
  • Knowledge of BigQuery interop, operational databases, and FinOps practices.
  • Familiarity with data quality, lineage practices, and IaC tools.

Additional Information

This position does not offer relocation support or work visa/immigration sponsorship. Strong English language skills are required for communication with a global team.
