Job Details
This is a full-time position with working hours Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts between 6 AM and 6 PM with occasional overtime or weekends. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the U.S., subject to policy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assess needs of the Ambulatory Coding Team and prioritize work.
- Identify solutions for non-standard edits, workflows, and issues.
- Solve complex coding questions and analyze trends for education.
- Provide detailed coding education and resource support.
- Train new employees and review assignments post-hire.
- Apply expert coding knowledge for ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS II Codes.
- Adhere to coding standards, ethical practices, and regulatory guidelines (Medicare APC, federal coding register).
- Engage in provider documentation feedback and processing rebills.
Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma/GED; Professional coder certification (AHIMA/AAPC); 3+ years experience in physician medical coding in multi-specialty clinic; expert E/M coding; solid PC and MS Excel skills; effective communication skills.
Preferred: Experience auditing charts, providing physician education, and familiarity with systems like CACp, EPIC, Allscripts, IDX, RCX, Encoder Pro.
