About the Data Engineer Role
At United States Senate Federal Credit Union, the Data Engineer will lead and shape greenfield projects by building financial systems from the ground up. This position offers high autonomy to innovate and implement individual ideas while contributing to key financial services such as customer data management and transaction processing.

Key Responsibilities
- ETL Pipeline Development and Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain data pipelines ensuring quality.
- Scheduled Jobs, Automation, and Monitoring: Develop scheduled jobs and automate tasks using orchestration tools.
- Database and Data Warehouse Management: Manage SQL databases and data warehouse solutions.
- Business Intelligence and Reporting: Support reporting requirements and build data models.
- Product Innovation and Team Collaboration: Work with Product and Engineering teams to integrate AI and run A/B tests.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure data practices comply with industry regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Minimum 4 years of data engineering experience with demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing. Experience in cloud data architecture and proficiency in a modern programming language (Python, Scala, Spark, Java, etc.). Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills are required.
Preferred Skills
- Programming: Python or similar language, SQL proficiency.
- ETL Tools: Experience with Apache Airflow, Pentaho, Talend, or SSIS.
- Database Technologies: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Data Warehouse Tools: Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.
- Business Intelligence: Knowledge of Tableau and Git for version control.
Location & Compensation
This role is remote with opportunities in specific states including MD, DC, VA, CT, FL, NC, SC, TX, LA; and select cities like Chicago, IL; Somerville, MA; New York, NY; and Seattle, WA. Salary ranges vary by location.
