Position Overview
The Nurse Educator and Performance Improvement Coordinator at United Health Services collaborates with Nurse Managers and Directors of Nursing across sites to plan and implement orientation, in-service education, and staff development programs. The role ensures competency for all staff within the clinical area and supports the development and review of departmental policies and procedures.
Work Locations & Shift Details
This position is based at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. Multiple locations may be involved, and the candidate might float across various UHS facilities. Primary work shift is Day Rotational with a regular schedule of 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct annual education needs assessments and coordinate required certifications.
- Develop and maintain orientation programs in alignment with Joint Commission standards and New York State requirements.
- Oversee quality management and performance improvement activities, compiling quarterly data.
- Maintain educational records and coordinate the annual competency assessment process.
- Serve as an education consultant and participate in continuous professional development and hospital-wide educational activities.
Education & Experience
Minimum: Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing with three years of clinical experience. Preferred candidates hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing and previous education or management experience.
Licenses & Certifications
- New York State Registered Nurse
- CPR certification (within 3 months of hire)
- NRP certification
- Preferred: CPR Basic Life Support Instructor certification and professional certifications in specialized nursing areas
