Overview
The Dental Assistant - Float, Canton/Ogdensburg performs clinical and administrative duties assigned by the Clinic Dentist or Hygienist, adhering to legal and professional standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during clinical procedures by passing instruments and managing patient needs.
- Prepare and mix dental materials including cement, impressions, and restoration materials.
- Perform instrument sterilization, maintain equipment, and execute infection control protocols.
- Operate dental equipment such as autoclave, evacuator, triturator, and oxygen systems.
- Assist in patient management, including wheelchair transfers and monitoring sedated patients.
- Manage appointment scheduling and maintain complete patient records.
- Coordinate with dental repair services and assist in educational programs for patients and staff.
- Maintain and submit records for radiation, autoclave tests, and supply orders.
- Follow all infection control policies and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A High School Diploma/GED is required. One year of chair-side experience as a dental assistant is preferred. Candidates must understand HIPAA regulations, exhibit professionalism, and maintain confidentiality. Physical demands include medium work, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and tolerance for common hospital odors and exposure risks.
