Associate Analyst - Operations Performance and Analytics

Job Overview and Responsibilities

As an Associate Analyst, you will be a data and analytics enthusiast eager to delve into details while also understanding the broader context. This role directly supports United Airlines' Air Operations group, based in Chicago, by focusing on data gathering, comprehensive analysis, dashboard creation and maintenance, executive reporting, and ad-hoc decision support. Success in this position requires excellent time management and communication skills, as you will be managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building high-quality dashboards, tools, and reports for Air Operations leadership, the eTeam, front-line management, and various business teams across the organization.
• Automating existing manual reports and processes to significantly enhance operational throughput and efficiency.
• Curating tables and views to establish a single, reliable source of truth for all United's operational data.
• Developing predictive models and analyzing their results to provide actionable insights to United leadership.
• Preparing impactful presentations for both United leadership and external stakeholders.
• Designing meaningful metrics that accurately reflect operational health and guide informed operational decisions.
• Documenting the entire data landscape and maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all reports.

This position operates under local terms and conditions in India. United Airlines will not offer expatriate assignments or employment visa sponsorship. This role is specifically for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc. You must be legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications (What's needed to succeed)

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 0-1 year of experience.
• Very strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities, including the ability to meticulously collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Solid understanding of data structures, relationships, and efficient data transformations.
• Knowledge and practical application of data visualization best practices.
• Familiarity with writing complex queries and procedures using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (e.g., SQL, Python).
• Proficiency in data visualization using Power BI to create meaningful and elegant dashboards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly grasp business team functions and design data/technology solutions that link business processes with quantifiable outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Adept at managing multiple projects and initiatives concurrently through effective prioritization.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship.
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Successful completion of the interview process.
• Reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function.

Preferred Qualifications (What will help you propel from the pack)

• Master's Degree in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Operations Research, and/or an MBA preferred.
• Familiarity with various components of the data ecosystem (acquisition, engineering, storage, management, analysis, visualization, and deployment) preferred.
• Exposure to statistical and analytical methods preferred.
• Experience with JavaScript, D3, HTML, CSS / front-end development.
