Main Purpose of the Job
The Corporate Communications Lead Philippines is responsible for shaping and protecting Unilever’s reputation in the Philippines. This role focuses on impactful internal and external communications, amplifying business priorities, sustainability commitments, and purpose through compelling storytelling and trusted media engagement.
Reporting & Collaboration
This role reports directly to the Head of Communications, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for Philippines and Greater Asia (based in Manila) and collaborates closely with regional and global communications teams. It also involves leading and coaching one direct report.
Key Accountabilities
- External Communications & Media Relations: Develop strategic communications to elevate Unilever’s narrative, build media relationships, shape positive narratives, leverage digital channels, and monitor media conversations.
- Reputation & Storytelling: Translate global priorities into local stories, drive thought leadership with speeches and articles, and support product and innovation launches.
- Cross-Functional & Business Unit Partnership: Advise cross-functional teams, align communications with global narrative, and support business units (Foods and Beauty & Wellbeing).
- Internal Communications & Employee Engagement: Partner with HR to deliver internal communications, manage channels, and design campaigns that empower employees.
- Issues & Crisis Communications: Anticipate and manage reputation risks, provide timely responses, and develop crisis communication toolkits.
- People Leadership: Lead and coach team members, foster an inclusive culture, and build future-ready communications capabilities.
Key Skills & Experiences
- 7–10 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or reputation management.
- Strong background in media engagement, digital storytelling, and content development.
- Proven track record in issues and crisis communications.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and regional business units.
- Experience in people leadership, coaching, and talent development.
- Excellent English communication skills and digital media fluency.
- Strong project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
