Position Overview

The Data Protection Consultant will support the Chief Data Office in the Division of Data, Analytics, Planning and Monitoring to implement and promote UNICEF’s Personal Data Protection Policy globally. The role focuses on developing and delivering training, awareness programs, and communication materials to ensure data protection compliance and elevate data privacy awareness.

Scope of Work & Key Deliverables

  • Organize Data Protection Event: Plan and execute events such as International Data Protection Day activities including webinars, articles, campaigns, and visual materials.
  • Engage Data Protection Champions: Conduct briefings, workshops, open office hours, and develop knowledge-sharing materials for internal champions.
  • Integrate Training in Onboarding: Develop data protection content for inclusion in new personnel welcome packages.
  • Develop Communication Materials: Produce articles, infographics, tips sheets and digital content to translate policy into actionable points.
  • Support Senior Leadership Engagement: Prepare presentations and briefings to integrate data protection into senior management agendas.
  • Conduct Workshops: Organize thematic webinars and workshops with active audience engagement and follow-up communications.
  • Measure Performance: Establish metrics, monitor progress, and draft reports with recommendations for program improvements.
  • Strategic Adjustments: Develop a revised strategy based on measured outcomes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate possesses an advanced degree in data protection, privacy law, data science or a related field with at least 7 years of experience. Demonstrated expertise in training, capacity building, and knowledge of international data protection laws (including GDPR) is essential. Experience with privacy enhancing technologies, creating knowledge-sharing materials, and working in a multilateral or UN environment is highly desirable.

Additional Information

This is a remote consultancy assignment with a duration from December 15, 2025, to December 31, 2026. Candidates must comply with visa, health insurance, and vaccination requirements, and be prepared for occasional travel if needed. Payment is contingent on satisfactory deliverables.
