About the Role
The Data Protection Consultant at UNICEF Bangladesh will support UNICEF's Chief Data Office in the Division of Data, Analytics, Planning and Monitoring to implement a comprehensive data protection programme. This role focuses on designing and delivering data protection awareness and training activities aimed at safeguarding personal and sensitive data in compliance with UNICEF's Policy for Personal Data Protection.
Scope of Work & Key Deliverables
- Establish a Personal Data Protection event, including articles, webinars, digital campaigns, and visual materials.
- Collaborate with Data Protection Champions to deliver briefings, workshops, and develop data risk registers.
- Integrate data protection material into the induction programme for new personnel.
- Develop data protection knowledge sharing materials, such as articles, infographics, and tips sheets.
- Coordinate with senior leadership by preparing updates, presentations, and briefing materials.
- Organize thematic workshops or webinars designed to engage staff in best practices for data handling.
- Develop and monitor metrics to measure progress and suggest improvements for the data protection awareness campaign.
- Formulate an adjusted strategy based on results from the implemented metrics.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should have an advanced degree in data protection, privacy law, data science or related fields. At least 7 years of relevant work experience is required. Expertise in personal data protection, GDPR, capacity building, and clear communication skills are essential. Experience in training and developing knowledge-sharing materials is critical. Prior exposure to a multilateral or UN environment is desirable.
Additional Information
This consultancy role is remote with a duty station in New York, United States. The assignment duration is from December 15, 2025 to December 31, 2026. Applicants should ensure valid visa and health insurance. Payment is made based on deliverables, and candidates are expected to meet UNICEF's standards for data protection and ethical conduct.
