Overview
The Data Protection Consultancy role at UNICEF Bangladesh is a consultancy assignment to support the implementation of a robust Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) framework. The consultant will work remotely with the Chief Data Office in the Division of Data, Analytics, Planning and Monitoring to ensure compliance with UNICEF's Personal Data Protection Policy.

Role Purpose
This consultancy aims to enable and support the global rollout of UNICEF's DPIA framework. The consultant will facilitate data mapping, risk assessments, and the creation of data flow maps, while ensuring digital systems adhere to privacy-by-design principles.
Key Deliverables
- Identify and review high-risk data processing activities using existing GCRI data and ROPA.
- Conduct consultations with at least five stakeholders to gather DPIA related information.
- Support creation of data flow maps for offices and divisions.
- Evaluate risks and propose mitigation measures in accordance with the DPIA procedure.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive DPIA reports and a central register.
- Review and recommend improvements to the DPIA framework.
Qualifications
Candidates should have an advanced degree in Data Protection, Privacy Law, Data Science or Computer Science, in addition to at least 4 years of relevant experience. Expertise in GDPR, privacy enhancing technology, and strong technical as well as communication skills are essential. Prior experience with multilateral or UN organizations is an advantage.
Additional Information
This remote consultancy is based in New York with a contract duration from 15 December 2025 to 31 December 2026. Applicants must be ready for potential emergent duty travel, meet visa and health insurance requirements, and adhere to UNICEF’s strict code of conduct.
