Overview of the Role
The Associate Digital Security Officer at UNESCO works within the Bureau of Digital Business Solution under the Head of Digital Security, Archives and Digital Assets Section. The role ensures the smooth operation of cybersecurity activities and supports UNESCO's digital transformation and move to the cloud.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage security operations and provide regular reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of resources, equipment, and software for optimum protection.
- Supervise security monitoring and manage incident response in collaboration with the managed security service provider.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, conduct audits and risk assessments, and monitor patch management.
- Keep abreast of security innovations and advise on digital security policies and remediation measures.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in computer sciences, information security, IT or related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience with proven incident response skills.
- Strong technical abilities in application, cloud (especially Microsoft Azure), and systems security.
- Good knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking protocols, and emerging technologies.
- Excellent communication skills; proficiency in English or French (other official languages a plus).
Desirable Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as Comptia Sec+, Network+, CEH or Azure Security Engineer.
- Experience in international and cross-cultural settings.
- Knowledge of additional UNESCO official languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish).
Benefits and Compensation
UNESCO offers a competitive salary package including 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan and more. The starting annual salary is approximately 87,929 US dollars.
