About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Field Automation Scientist based in the UK to commission advanced laboratory automation workflow solutions and optimize customer applications. This role involves providing expert support for Unchained Labs' automation equipment (Stuntman, Big Kahuna, Junior, Big Tuna) and third-party systems. You will play a crucial role in enabling customers to achieve their workflow automation goals, significantly contributing to both customer success and Unchained Labs' growth. This is a unique opportunity to accelerate customer development in high-throughput experimentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the installation, integration testing, site acceptance testing, and customer training for custom lab automation systems.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with customers during complex system commissioning and support processes.
• Collaborate closely with customers and internal teams to onboard customer applications onto newly installed integrated automation systems.
• Serve as a key expert in automation software, customer protocols, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Provide both on-site and remote support to resolve challenging issues for customers across various scientific disciplines.
• Act as a customer advocate, channeling feedback and field insights to drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of issues and solutions using Salesforce CRM.
• Travel to customer sites within the UK and EU, with occasional international travel required (approximately 50% travel).

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to customer success.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field; a graduate-level degree is preferred.
• Proven hands-on experience in applications, service, or technical support for complex lab automation equipment. Familiarity with Junior or Big Kahuna workflow solutions is a significant advantage.
• Proficiency in a contemporary programming language, such as Python, is essential.
• Solid understanding of general laboratory practices and a continuous desire to learn new scientific concepts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate the value of automation.
• Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and flexible schedule, managing multiple projects and travel demands.
• Resilience, confidence, and composure under pressure.
• A self-driven, solutions-oriented mindset suited for a high-performance culture.
• UK residency is preferred.
