Overview
The UN Women is seeking a Communications Consultant to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic communications package focused on sustainable finance for gender equality. The role encompasses designing media assets, visibility products, and providing strategic content development for multiple audiences including donors, investors, and partners.
Background
UN Women is dedicated to eliminating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving equality between women and men. In line with the Addis Ababa Agenda, UN Women is enhancing financing for gender equality through a series of innovative initiatives under its Sustainable Finance Programme.
Objectives
Primary Objective: Design and deliver a strategic communications package that showcases UN Women’s leadership in sustainable finance, highlights programme achievements, and engages key stakeholders.
Secondary Objective: Strengthen team capacity in content development by providing guidance and building sustainable practices for effective communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Phase I: Conduct programme review, develop workplan, and prepare an inception report.
- Phase II: Draft and develop communication materials such as brochures, infographics, video scripts, social media articles, and presentation decks.
- Phase III: Finalize deliverables including a comprehensive final package, video highlights, and internal guidance notes.
Deliverables and Timeframe
The consultancy begins in November 2025 and ends in May 2026. Payment is scheduled in three phases: 30% upon delivery of the inception report, 40% upon draft submission in April 2026, and 30% upon final delivery in May/June 2026.
Consultant Details
This is a home-based consultancy requiring remote work with scheduled virtual meetings with the Sustainable Finance team.
Competencies & Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in strategic communications and content development.
- Experience in sustainable finance, gender equality, and international development.
- Fluency in English; additional UN languages are an asset.
