Audit Intern
Background:
UN Women is dedicated to the vision of equality as enshrined in the UN Charter, working towards eliminating discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving gender equality. The Internal Audit Service (IAS) within the Independent Evaluation, Audit, and Investigations Services (IEAIS) is responsible for UN Women's internal audit function. IAS provides independent assurance on governance, risk management, and controls for UN Women's headquarters and offices away from headquarters.
Reporting to the Chief of IAS, the Internal Audit Intern will contribute to developing a technology-driven Internal Audit Risk Assessment using PowerBI. The intern will also assist Internal Audit specialists with risk-based audits of UN Women's headquarters' business processes, programs, projects, corporate functions, systems, internal controls, and policy implementation. This includes supporting the development of technology and AI-supported testing approaches.
Description Of Responsibilities
- Support the development of a PowerBI-enabled Internal Audit Risk Assessment.
- Assist the Internal Audit Specialist in identifying dashboard requirements, update needs, data granularity, and constraints.
- Aid the Internal Audit Specialist in identifying and preparing data sources, extracting and cleaning data as needed, and using Power Query for data transformation.
- Build the data model by creating relationships between tables, developing calculated columns and measures, and organizing metadata.
- Develop the report and create the dashboard, including building visual components (e.g., charts, maps), applying consistent formatting and layout, and adding interactivity (e.g., drill-downs, slicers).
- Test and validate the dashboard by verifying numbers against source systems, confirming interactivity, gathering team feedback, and making updates.
- Support the Internal Audit Specialist in creating a manual for performing the Internal Audit Risk Assessment using Power BI.
- Assist in developing technology-supported techniques to fulfill the Internal Audit Plan.
- Support risk-based, end-to-end audits for performance/value for money engagements, maturity and risk assessments, governance, compliance, and project management audits. This involves designing data analytics and AI-supported approaches for testing to enhance audit work, increase assurance coverage, and improve efficiency.
- Design analytics, perform trend analyses, and develop visual narratives to strengthen assurance and advisory work.

Qualifications:
- Education: University studies in any related field with required experience in data analytics and PowerBI. Must meet one of the following criteria: enrolled in a graduate school program, enrolled in the final year of a bachelor's program, graduated within the last two years, or enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
- Language: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.
Remuneration:
Interns not receiving financial support from other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to help cover basic living costs.
