Job Description

Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), established in 1997, leads global efforts to promote peace, security, justice, and development by supporting Member States in countering drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism. With headquarters in Vienna and a network of over 115 field offices, UNODC works closely with governments and civil society to build resilient societies grounded in the rule of law. The Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA), based in Cairo, oversees programming across 18 countries under the Regional Framework for the Arab States (2023–2028), which provides a roadmap to strengthen justice, reduce violence, and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. This UN Volunteer assignment supports the Regional Programme for Drug Control and Forensics, aimed at fostering balanced, evidence‑based, and human‑rights–compliant approaches to drug response, prevention, treatment, and regional cooperation. Working under the Regional Programme Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will help ensure effective coordination, communication, and operational delivery across ROMENA offices.
