Overview

The Project Manager for AI Implementation role at Umbrex is designed for experienced professionals to lead AI and advanced analytics projects within a global biopharmaceutical organization. This role is part of the newly established AI and Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence in the R&D department, aiming to optimize clinical trials, drive operational decisions, and accelerate knowledge extraction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery for one or more AI/advanced analytics solutions from MVP design through operational scale-up.
  • Develop and manage project roadmaps, milestones, and delivery timelines aligned with CoE objectives and R&D priorities.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation including backlogs, KPIs, risk logs, and status reports.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, data science, product, and R&D) to drive progress and resolve blockers.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives across global teams.
  • Ensure deliverables meet data governance, security, and regulatory standards in clinical research and biopharma environments.
  • Act as the communication bridge between technical teams and senior business leaders.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and change requests, balancing speed with quality and compliance.
  • Contribute to creating a repeatable project management framework for future AI and analytics initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in data science, AI, or advanced analytics.
  • Background in biopharma, healthcare, or clinical research settings.
  • Consulting/project delivery experience in healthcare or clinical research settings.
  • Strong understanding of Agile project management (Scrum/Kanban) with hands-on sprint management experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML solution lifecycles, analytics platforms, and data governance.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Asana, or Azure DevOps.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Project Management, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; PMP, Agile, or Scrum certification a plus.
