General Clerk III - Document Management Support Services
Bowhead is seeking a General Clerk III to provide essential Document Management Support Services to the Office of Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA). This role is crucial for supporting OPLA's mission of providing comprehensive legal counsel and services to all ICE offices and programs. OPLA is involved in representing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in Immigration Court proceedings, appellate cases before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and supporting the Department of Justice's Office of Immigration Litigation and U.S. Attorney's Offices nationwide. The Chief Counsel's office manages highly sensitive and confidential documentation, making accuracy and discretion paramount in this role.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The General Clerk III will perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, following detailed procedures for repetitive tasks. Key duties include:
- Maintaining and organizing physical and electronic files.
- Managing mail, including paper and electronic correspondence and packages.
- Scanning of documents and entering/uploading data into PLAnet, OPLA's electronic alien file repository.
- Conducting research and drafting documents as needed.
- Interfiling correspondence and shelving/re-shelving files.
- Utilizing the RAILS automated file system for file location and transfers.
- Assisting with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
- Routing or filing legal or specialized materials according to office procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with ICE and NARA General Records Schedule document retention policies.
- Recording receipt of motions, notices of appeal, briefing schedules, and court decisions in PLAnet.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an administrative office environment.
- Extensive computer/PC knowledge, including spreadsheet software, word processing software, and MS Office Suite.
- Must be able to pass a federal background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the DHS ICE T2 level.
Work Arrangement and Compensation
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. The hourly rate is $20.18 plus a Health and Welfare (H&W) rate of $5.09 per local wage determination. The position is located in Atlanta, GA.
