Position Overview
UCLA Extension is seeking a Data Analytics in Public Affairs Instructor to teach 100% online courses on a quarterly basis. The role involves developing course syllabi, preparing and delivering course materials, and using the Canvas Learning Management System. Instructors are expected to respond promptly to student inquiries, interact with internal staff, and uphold UCLA Extension's high academic standards.
Courses & Responsibilities
This role involves teaching courses including Advanced Technology and Public Policy, Ethics and Big Data, Data Visualization, Introduction to Programming and Data Science, GIS and Spatial Data Science, Urban Data Science, and Statistical Methods for Public Policy.
- Develop and update course syllabus in consultation with the Portfolio Director.
- Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments online.
- Utilize the Canvas LMS for course support and delivery.
- Engage with students and respond to their questions in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with the Portfolio Director and Digital Technology Department for administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D., Master degree, or JD along with at least five years of relevant work experience. College-level teaching and online teaching experience are preferred along with the ability to design curriculum and measure student performance.
