Role Overview
The SoC Analyst - Security Operations Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing security alerts using tools like SIEM and IDS/IPS. The role involves initial triage, incident investigation, and support for patch management, vulnerability scans, and security audits.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze alerts from security tools to identify threats.
- Conduct initial triage and investigate security incidents.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for incident response.
- Support patch management and coordinate timely updates.
- Participate in security audits, assessments, and vulnerability scans.
- Maintain documentation on incidents, threat intelligence, and operational activities.
- Prepare security reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
- Stay updated with cybersecurity trends and best practices.
Primary Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT or related field.
- Understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and incident response procedures.
- Familiarity with security monitoring tools like SIEM, IDS/IPS.
- Basic knowledge of network protocols and firewall management.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Must be a US citizen eligible for a US secret clearance.
Differentiators
- 3+ years SOC or NOC experience.
- Experience in government or regulated environments (NIST, FedRAMP, CMMC).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GIAC Security Essentials.
- Experience with cloud security tools (AWS, GCP).
Location & Schedule
This role is based out of our Sterling, VA office. It requires 24X7 coverage with rotating shifts including days, nights, and weekends.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary ranges between $70,000 and $85,000 depending on experience. Full-time employees receive competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K match, life insurance, paid PTO, education and technology reimbursements, and more.
