Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Professional Coding Auditor to join our remote HIM consulting team. Responsibilities include:
- Perform coding audits and reviews on various professional fee record types including Evaluation and Management, surgical CPT, hospitalist, annual well visits, inpatient pro-fee, and outpatient pro-fee.
- Conduct coding audits and reviews across multiple specialties such as Primary Care, ENT, Nephrology, Urology, Cardiology, Thoracic, Neurology, Emergency Department, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Behavioral Health, Ophthalmology, and Endocrinology.
- Conduct necessary research to provide clients with supportive regulatory and coding guideline documentation, referencing Official Coding Guidelines, Medicare/Medicaid Claims Processing Manual, Office of Inspector General guidance, Local/National coverage determinations and transmittals, and National Correct Coding Initiatives.
- Assist in designing and presenting educational seminars to clients and staff.
- Collaborate with the HIM Consulting Division on senior-level projects including assessments, analysis, tool development for audits, staff education, applicant coding test material development, and coding content for client articles.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be flexible, detail-oriented, independent, quality-conscious, and adaptable to change. Additional qualifications include:
- AHIMA or AAPC certification.
- 2-5 years of minimum experience performing E/M audits and reviews, plus previous coding experience.
- Ability to remain impartial and objective when finalizing and presenting audit findings.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with various EMR systems, UASI audit software, and secure file transfer in compliance with HIPAA.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently communicate on-site and via webinar/conference calls.
