About The Job
As Twilio’s next Technical Revenue Accounting Manager, an individual contributor role, you will be a key player in ensuring our revenue recognition is ASC 606-compliant and operationally scalable. You will assess and document revenue conclusions for complex multi-element arrangements, support month-end close, and drive cross-functional alignment across Sales, Legal, FP&A, and systems teams. The successful candidate thrives on solving nuanced technical issues practically, excels at cross-functional collaboration, and loves building scalable processes in a rapidly evolving, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Research and prepare technical accounting assessments of complex customer contracts, including multi-element arrangements, usage-based pricing, variable consideration, and customer incentives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, and FP&A as needed, on specific contract reviews and overarching commercial strategies to ensure revenue recognition is in compliance with ASC 606.
- Lead alignment with operational accounting in the use of revenue tools for the implementation of new customer contracts, modifications, and the periodic review of assumptions used to establish revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606.
- Support the monthly revenue close process, including reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and investigating anomalies in revenue recognition.
- Own SOX controls, audit deliverables, and SEC reporting related to revenue recognition and disclosures.
- Maintain the process for determining and updating Stand-Alone Selling Pricing (SSPs), including periodic refreshes, quantitative analysis, and documentation in compliance with ASC 606.
- Help maintain revenue accounting policies, including memos and position papers that evolve with the business and educate teams on the principles and requirements.
- Collaborate with systems and business partners to design and enhance revenue automation tools ensuring accurate system configuration and accounting logic.
- Lead revenue accounting for new product launches and Go-To-Market initiatives, ensuring scalability of the end-to-end processes.
- Become an expert and an end-to-end owner in your areas of responsibility, be a holistic forward thinker, strengthen big-picture vision, drive improvements, and lead change.
- Support special projects and company-wide initiatives as needed, leveraging technical expertise to drive successful outcomes.

Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 6+ years of progressive experience with a focus in technical accounting within a public accounting firm and a large, fast-paced corporate environment.
- In-depth technical knowledge of ASC 606 and US GAAP with hands-on experience accounting for SaaS and usage-based revenue models.
- Proficiency in designing internal controls based on a thorough grasp of the fact pattern and applicable risks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards to complex real-world scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- A diligent self-starter, with intense curiosity, and a proven ability to take initiative and be proactive in addressing complex issues.
- Ability to cut through the noise to identify the core components of a problem, and then drive towards a pragmatic, scalable, and optimized outcome.
- High attention to detail, a curious mind, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
Desired:
- CPA or equivalent certification.
- 5+ years of Big 4 public accounting experience.
- Experience in revenue accounting at either high-growth technology startups or well-established companies.
- Experience with Oracle RMCS and Zuora Revenue.
Location and Travel
This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA. Occasional travel may be required to participate in project or team in-person meetings.
