Job Description
Senior Manager, SEO at Turo
Join Turo as a Senior Manager, SEO and lead our organic growth strategy across technical SEO, content, and on-page optimization. You’ll own the SEO roadmap end-to-end—driving traffic, qualified users, and revenue through scalable programs, strong cross-functional partnerships, and best-in-class measurement.
About The Team
As Senior Manager, SEO, you will spearhead Turo's organic growth initiatives, owning the entire SEO roadmap from strategy to execution. This includes driving traffic, acquiring qualified users, and boosting revenue through scalable programs, strong cross-functional collaboration, and robust measurement practices. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will define strategy, prioritize investments, influence Product and Engineering roadmaps, and build and mentor a high-performing SEO team and agency partners.
What You Will Do
- Define and execute comprehensive SEO strategy covering technical SEO, content SEO, on-page optimization, internal linking, and authority building.
- Own key business and operational KPIs for organic growth, translating them into clear quarterly plans.
- Identify significant growth opportunities across the entire user funnel: discovery, comparison, conversion, and retention content.
- Stay abreast of the latest strategies for Turo's visibility on LLM search through GEO.
Drive Technical SEO leadership
- Guide Product and Engineering teams to enhance crawlability, indexation, rendering, site architecture, page speed (Core Web Vitals), internationalization (hreflang), structured data, and leverage log-file insights.
- Lead thorough audits and create prioritized technical backlogs with clear business justifications.
- Ensure robust and scalable SEO foundations for all new features and site changes, including templates, faceted navigation, pagination, canonicalization, and parameter handling.
Develop Content & on-page SEO at scale
- Build a scalable content program encompassing keyword strategy, content briefs, editorial standards, content refreshes, and strategic pruning.
- Identify and drive template and programmatic SEO opportunities for various page types like category pages, location pages, collections, and FAQs.
- Collaborate with Brand, Content, and PR teams to ensure content aligns with Turo's brand voice while fulfilling all SEO requirements.
Authority, trust & reputation
- Develop and oversee a sustainable approach to authority growth through digital PR, strategic partnerships, link reclamation, and brand demand generation.
- Actively manage risk and ensure strict adherence to search engine guidelines, avoiding any manipulative tactics.
Measurement & experimentation
- Work closely with the Data Analytics team to enhance existing reporting by integrating internal data with various SEO tools and external data sources.
- Partner with Data Analytics to improve conversion rates and overall user experience.
- Establish an experimentation culture for elements such as titles/meta descriptions, internal linking, templates, schema markup, and content formats.
- Clearly understand and articulate the causal impact of all SEO initiatives.
Leadership & stakeholder management
- Build and scale the SEO team, providing leadership and mentorship to SEO specialists, and effectively managing agency and vendor relationships.
- Manage global stakeholders and strategically allocate resources to support all markets adequately.
- Develop a regular cadence for performance reporting to all stakeholders.
- Create comprehensive documentation, SEO playbooks, and governance frameworks for teams launching new pages and features.
Your profile
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
- 7+ years of dedicated SEO experience with a proven track record of leadership, ideally within a B2C marketplace or travel/e-commerce environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a quantitative field.
- A customer-centric approach to SEO, focusing on user experience rather than solely on tactics.
- Demonstrated success in scaling SEO through geo-targeted and programmatic landing pages, maintaining high quality.
- Extensive experience in people management and stakeholder management.
- Ability to effectively work with agencies, helping them prioritize and achieve results.
- Strong expertise in technical SEO, including crawlability/indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, JavaScript rendering considerations, duplication management, and site migrations.
- Robust understanding of content SEO, including intent mapping, editorial strategy, optimization, and operational workflows.
- Expertise in core SEO tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, crawling tools (Screaming Frog/Sitebulb), and competitive research platforms (Ahrefs/Semrush).
- International SEO experience covering multi-country, multi-language, hreflang, and localization strategies.
- Proven ability to influence Product and Engineering roadmaps, clearly communicating ROI and tradeoffs.
