About the Youth Activism Internship at TurnUp Activism
Join TurnUp Activism as a Youth Activism Intern, an unpaid remote internship or volunteer opportunity. This flexible role requires 5-30 hours per week, with adaptable start and end dates. You will be part of a mission-driven team of young people from across the United States, working to amplify youth civic engagement and participate in activism on critical progressive and social justice issues. These include climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, ending gun violence, and combating voter suppression.

Key Curriculum
As a Youth Activism Intern, you will work within teams to engage in grassroots activism and advocacy on civic and social justice issues you are passionate about. This involves conducting research to deepen your understanding and awareness of these topics. Interns are expected to join and support existing voter registration drives at their schools. If a drive isn't present, TurnUp Activism will support you in initiating and executing your own registration efforts, whether peer-to-peer or through a formal drive (with school permission).

This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals eager to drive change in their communities, refine their activist capabilities, strengthen democracy in the United States, and connect with like-minded young people. Interns will collaborate on diverse tasks, maintain regular communication, and participate in weekly virtual meetings. This collaborative environment fosters the development of democratic competency. Responsibilities include participating in civic actions, working on voter turnout projects, conducting targeted outreach, engaging in advocacy, finding and participating in volunteer opportunities collectively, attending the TurnUp Speaker Series, and performing civic and activism-related research and writing. Most importantly, you will work together to advocate for issues vital to young people, fight voter suppression, and boost youth voter turnout across the United States. Upon completion, interns will be prepared as civically responsible and engaged activists.
